TKM will add a new variant to the Fortuner lineup, the TRD Sportivo, according to a report by Autocar India. The previous generation SUV also had Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo variant on sale, and the new one will come with a cosmetic treatment on similar lines.
The TRD Sportivo kit for the Fortuner adds front and rear bumper extensions along with silver finish front and rear underbody protection as well as silver finish side steps. It also rids the Fortuner's nose of chrome replacing it with a gloss black finish for the grille and matte black finish for the fog lamp enclosures. 'TRD' lettering is present on the grille and near the door sills as well as on the tailgate. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo also gets a new set of multispoke dual tone alloy wheels and black ORVM casings.
An all-black treatment will be given to the dashboard of the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo along with darker seat upholstery. There will be new floor mats with TRD Sportivo lettering as well. No major additions to the equipment list are expected, however.
The report from Autocar suggests only the diesel engined Fortuner will get the TRD Sportivo trim. Diesel variants are powered by 2.8 L engine that churns out 177 PS of maximum power. The manual variant with a 6-speed gearbox has a peak torque of 420 Nm while the 6-speed automatic equipped Fortuner has a peak torque of 450 Nm. Buyers can choose between 2WD and 4WD in case of the Fortuner diesel. Toyota recently added engine stop/start fuel saving tech to the automatic diesel variants of the SUV.

Additionally, the report claims the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo 2WD AT will be priced at INR 31.43 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). For reference, the standard Toyota Fortuner 2WD AT retails for INR 29.95 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai) following the recent price hike.
