Toyota Etios twins are definitely going through tough times in the Brazilian market.

As per this December's sales record till date, the VW Gol proves to be the Maruti Alto of Brazil by consistently topping the sales chart every month. The second generation Fiat Palio which was launched in Brazil in 2011 comes in at second while the new Fiat Uno rounds up the podium.

Fiat may be pushed to the sidelines in India but the Italian manufacturer rules the Brazilian market with four cars (Palio, Uno, Sienna and Strada) in the top 10.

The Etios hatchback's main rivals Chevrolet Onix and Hyundai HB20 continued their phenomenal run and in the process broke into the list of top 10 best selling cars in Brazil for this month. The Onix sprang a surprise over the HB20 and outsold it to capture 6th position with 6,031 units while the South Korean hatchback cemented a solid 8th with 5,660 units.

In stark contrast, the Etios hatchback clocked a meager 837 units which puts it at a rather embarrassing 48th position. If that is not enough, the sedan version brings further worries to Toyota Brazil's camp by slipping to 69th position with only 491 units sold so far in this month.

It is clearly not the festive time for Toyota in Brazil and the slump in the Etios sales is reason enough to panic, especially because the Japanese czar has pumped in lot of investment to manufacture the Etios twins in Brazil hoping that the duo will bring them market crushing volumes.

Toyota need the improved next generation Etios twins and it need them at the earliest!
