Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has silently introduced two variants on the diesel powered Etios Liva hatchback. Earlier on, the diesel Liva's range only included JD, GD, GD SP (SP stands for Safety Package) and TRD Sportivo trims.
The VD and VD SP trims are now the range-topping models on the Etios Liva, and as a result, are the most expensive variants as well. While the VD is priced at INR 6.7 lakhs, the VD SP is priced at INR 7.03 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai).
Exterior wise, the VD and VD SP models get a double chrome grille (J receives a matt black grille while the G gets a single chrome grille) and turn indicators integrated on the wing mirrors. Toyota has also given these variants 12-spoke alloy wheels.
Coming to features, both these variants benefit from a rear defogger, tachometer, AUX-in and Bluetooth support for the music system, and wood grain finish for the door armrest. The VD SP also comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. This model also gets dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
Mechanically, there are no changes to speak of and Toyota's 1.4-liter D-4D engine continues to produce 68 PS at 3,800 rpm and 170 Nm of torque from 1,800-2,400 rpm. The Liva diesel claims an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 23.59 km/l.
