Shanghai-GM has officially taken the wraps off the Sail Springo EV at the Guangzhou Auto Show yesterday.
The electric car christened 'Shanghai-GM Sail Springo EV' is developed at the PATAC Shanghai Pan Asia Automotive Technical Center which was also responsible for the development of the petrol version of the Chevrolet Sail.
The electric car is powered by a 118 bhp (88 KW) motor which develops a torque of 220 Nm. The car can reach a top speed of 130 kmph and the range on a full charge is 130 km.
The EV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 10.4 seconds and the activation of the 'Sport' button provides 20% faster acceleration. However, the sport mode well reduce the range of the car. The battery pack has a capacity of 22 KWh and it takes around 7 hours for a full charge on a household 220V outlet.
The interior of the car as spied earlier has white panel inserts and comes with an instrument screen instead of dials. The centre console houses a large screen for the multimedia infotainment system.
The Sail Springo EV is priced at a whopping 258,000 Yuan (around Rs. 22.86 lakhs), however the car would commence sales through a pilot project in Shanghai where the buyers can avail a subsidy of 100,000 Yuan (around Rs. 8.86 lakhs) apart from free registration.
