Will most likely be an optional upgrade.
While development continues, Elon Musk, CEO, Tesla Motors, is giving timely updates about the Model 3, even revealing some specifications via his Twitter handle. In his latest post, Musk confirms that the Tesla Model 3 will be available with the 'Ludicrous' driving mode.
Specifying the optional Ludicrous performance upgrade offers the quickest 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) acceleration time in the Tesla Model S P 90D (2.8 seconds, down from standard 3.1 seconds) and Tesla Model X P 90D (3.2 seconds, down from standard 3.8 seconds). The Ludicrous mode will most likely be an optional upgrade in the Model 3 as well.
Available in single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations, the Tesla Model 3 will start at just US$35,000 in the U.S. market. The base single-motor rear-wheel drive Model 3 will be capable of reaching from 0-60 mph (0-97 kmph) in under six seconds and offer a driving range of 215 miles (346 km). Deliveries will commence in late 2017, with the U.S. being the first market. Export markets including India should start getting the Model 3 in 2018.
