Thanks to the recent reduction in GST on electric vehicles, the price of the all-electric Tata Tigor has been slashed by INR 80,000. Tata Motors has decided to pass on the benefit to the customers with an immediate effect.
The Tigor EV was earlier priced at INR 12.35–12.71 lakh* and will now be available to customers at INR 11.58–11.92 lakh*. However, these prices do not include FAME II scheme subsidy and TCS (vehicles costing more than INR 10 lakh gets 1% tax levied on them). The FAME II subsidy would decrease the prices to INR 9.96 lakh* for the base variant and INR 10.30 lakh* for the top-of-the line XT variant.
The Tata Tigor EV stays exclusive only to the fleet operators and government officials, and there are no updates if the same would be launched as a public vehicle anytime soon. It is now available in three variants including XE (Base), XM (Premium) and XT (High).
The Tigor EV makes use of a 16.2 kWh battery pack which powers a 72V, 3-phase AC induction motor, which is responsible for churning out 30 kW (41 PS) at 4,500 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. It is claimed to deliver a 142 km range when fully charged. It achieves 80% of the charge through a standard AC wall socket in 6 hours, while a DC 15kW quick charger does the same in 90 minutes. A 0-60 km/h acceleration takes 12 seconds, while the top speed is 80 km/h.
