Tata Motors has launched a special edition of the Nexon. Dubbed as the Tata Nexon Kraz (pronounced craze), the new model commemorates the sub-4-metre compact SUV's first-year anniversary. It is a limited-run model that comes in two variants - Kraz and Kraz+. Prices start at INR 7.14 lakhs* for the petrol variant and INR 8.07 lakhs* for the diesel version.
Commenting at the launch, Mayank Pareek, President – PVBU, Tata Motors, said:
We want to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of our brand Nexon with our customers and what better way than offering them a special striking version- the Nexon KRAZ. To attract customers with active and sporty lifestyle, the Nexon KRAZ has been designed to set a new trend in the segment. Since launch, the Nexon has received a very good response and today is among the top 5 selling compact SUVs. We would like to thank all our customers for their trust in the brand and we will continue to bring exciting products in the market.
The Tata Nexon Kraz is available only in an all-new TROMSO BLACK colour with a grey roof. It features 'neo-green' highlights on the grille, ORVMs, and the wheel caps. At its rear-end, the new model sports a 'Kraz' badge in the same neon shade. The neon treatment has been given to the interior as well. It comes with neon highlights around the AC vents and neon stitching on the seat covers. The dashboard features a piano black trim.
The Kraz edition is based on the XM trim. Standard features include a 4-speaker infotainment system by Harman, Bluetooth and steering mounted controls, automatic climate controls with rear air vents, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, reverse parking sensors, ABS, and dual front airbags.
Mechanically, the Kraz remains the same as the regular model. It is available with two engine options - 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol that outputs 110 bhp and 170 Nm, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel that outputs 110 bp and 260 Nm. Both the engines come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Tata Nexon Kraz edition won't offer an optional AMT.
The Tata Nexon Kraz costs up to Rs 25,000 more than the XM trim. Currently, the petrol-powered Tata Nexon XM costs Rs 6.91 lakh*, while its diesel sipper costs Rs 7.84 lakh*. Regular colour options for the Nexon comprise Vermont Red, Moroccan Blue, Etna Orange, Seattle Silver, Glasgow Grey, and Calgary White. The XZ and XZ+ trim offer two roof colour options - Sonic Silver and Ivory White - on select paint options.
In August, Tata Motors announced that the production of the Tata Nexon has crossed the 50,000th milestone. Tata Motors manufactures the small SUV at the Ranjangaon plant. The launch of the new Kraz edition should help the manufacturer boost the sales of its sub-4-metre compact SUV during this year's festive season.
