1. Based on the Tata Aria:
Underneath the new exterior look and revamped interior is the same rugged platform from the Tata Aria. The Hexa however sets itself apart from the Aria by featuring a tougher exterior design closer to that of a typical SUV than the MPV-esque Tata Aria. It measures 4,764 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, 1,780 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
2. Powered by the 2.2-liter VARICOR 400 engine:
The Tata Hexa will pack Tata's 2.2-liter four-cylinder VARICOR 400 turbodiesel engine delivering 154.2 hp at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm between 1,700 – 2,700 rpm. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a GM-sourced 6-speed automatic is reported to be offered as an option at a later time. Also on offer is a 4WD system on top-end models.
3. Most feature-packed Tata product ever:
From spyshots and reports, it appears that the Tata Hexa will be the most feature packed Tata product ever. The Hexa will feature ESP (electronic stability program), projector headlamps with auto function, taillamps with LED position lamps, large alloy wheels, 6-seat configuration with captain seats, leather upholstery with twin-needle stitching, mood lighting and 6 airbags.
4. Price and positioning as an SUV:
The Tata Hexa will rival the Mahindra XUV500, and slot in the sub-20 Lakh full-size SUV segment. The XUV500 is priced from INR 11.5-17.2 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai and the Hexa could be priced along this ballpark.
5. Production version confirmed for Auto Expo:
Tata Motors has confirmed that the production-spec Tata Hexa will make its world debut at the Auto Expo 2016 on February 3. The production-spec model arrives nearly an year after Tata unveiled the Hexa concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
6. Drive Selector System:
The Tata Hexa will sport a Drive Mode selector that offers four driving modes: Automatic, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough-Road. The Land Rover-style system is expected to improve the ride quality/off-roadability of the Hexa, while the Multi-Drive system (Eco/City/Sport) could improve drivability or fuel efficiency.
