Tata Motors today unveiled the Tata Bolt hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show which goes on sale in India later this year. The Bolt is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.3-liter diesel engine.
The Bolt gets a 5-speed manual gearbox for both engines. The 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol is the Revotron engine that makes 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between the range of 1,750 rpm and 3,000 rpm. The diesel engine will be the 1.3-liter Quadrajet motor, sourced from Fiat, outputting 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm.
The company's design studios in Pune (India), Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy) came together to finalise on the design of the hatchback that gets speed sensitive electronic power assisted steering and 'Active return' function. Tata says that the Bolt's dual path suspension has been linked to a zero pivot subframe that promises a comfortable ride.
The Bolt receives a 5-inch touchscreen on the center console that also features integrated HVAC controls, Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone integration and phone-enabled navigation.
