Tata Motors had launched the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP in India in October. Nearly a year after the launch, the company is going to add new features to the performance cars, which have been co-developed with Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives.

The new Tata Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP will feature a 7-inch infotainment system instead of a 5-inch unit.

Like the report in April this year had said, a new report says that the Tata Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP are set to gain a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarrPlay and Android Auto support. This will likely be the same unit that is included in the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor's XZ+ grade. Moreover, the new report says that the updated JTP cars will include power-folding ORVMs as well.

The Tata Tigor JTP is already equipped with an automatic climate control system, but the Tata Tiago JTP isn't. The new report says that the hatchback will gain this feature with the upcoming update. The motive behind the first update to the JTP cars is to make them as feature-rich as the range-topping XZ+ grade of the standard cars.

The JTP cars sport large trapezoidal lower grille, bonnet and fender vents, wider 15-inch alloy wheels, side skirts, rear diffuser and twin barrel exhaust. There's no denying that some of these elements are non-functional and present only for style. Key features on the inside include unique seat fabric with red hexagonal motifs and aluminium pedal extensions.

Under the hood, the first-ever performance cars from Tata Motors come with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine which delivers 114 PS of maximum power at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of peak torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered as standard. The JTP duo sits lower for a more dynamic drive.

The Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP currently retail at INR 6.39 lakh and INR 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. But the new update may result in a minor price hike. Expect the new cars to be launched around the middle of this month.
