Skoda Kodiaq RS to be launched In India next year - Report

The Skoda Kodiaq RS that debuted last year been reportedly confirmed for India. The high-performance SUV from the Czech automaker is coming to India in 2020. With the Skoda Karoq expected to arrive in the first half of the year, we'd put our bets on this one to be Skoda's firecracker during the festive season in the second half.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS employs a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged in-line 4 diesel engine which is tuned to deliver 236 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm.

On the outside, the Skoda Kodiaq RS looks just like the regular model except for some design bits which highlight its sporty intent. At the front, its black vertical-slat grille sports matter effect at the place of the glossy treatment on the standard model. It also gets the iconic RS badge on the front grille. Furthermore, its bumper has been slightly tweaked which differentiates it from the regular model. It also gets blacked-out ORVMs and larger, 20-inch Xtreme alloy wheels as standard. At the back, its LED taillamps get black detailing.

Inside, the cabin features typical RS look with an all-black interior with contrast red stitching and red highlights that accentuates its sporty character. Apart from this, its leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel along with sporty bucket style front seats make its cabin look very intimidating. It also gets Alcantara leather seat upholstery, RS logo on the seats and the gear lever and metal pedals.

As for the mechanicals, the Kodiaq RS gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged in-line four diesel engine which is tuned to deliver 236 PS at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. The engine comes paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. It gets all-wheel-drive system as standard.

The use of leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel along with the sporty bucket style front seats make the cabin of Skoda Kodiaq RS look very sporty and intimidating.

Just like the existing Octavia RS, the Skoda Kodiaq RS will be a a completely built unit (CBU) and will thus demand a very a premium price tag. Expect it to retail it around INR 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
