The right-hand drive 2018 Lexus LS has made its motor show debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Lexus launched the all-new LS in Japan just last week.
With the latest lifecycle makeover, the Lexus LS has entered its fifth generation. The fluidic and emotional design of the new generation model is inspired by that of the Lexus LF-FC concept. The all-new Lexus LS rides on an extended version of the Lexus LC’s GA-L platform. Lexus says that this is the stiffest platform it has ever developed. The GA-L platform offers enhanced handling, ride smoothness and cabin quietness.
The 2018 Lexus LS is available in three models globally: LS 350, LS 500 and LS 500h. The LS 350 has a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine producing 237 kW (322.23 PS) and 380 Nm of torque. The LS 500 sports the V35A-FTS 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 422 PS and 600 Nm of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard in LS 350 and LS 500. The LS 500 is available in all-wheel-drive drivetrain layout optionally.
The LS 500h, as its name suggests, is a hybrid. Its powertrain combines the 8GR-FXS 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with the 2NM electric motor. The combustion engine produces 299 PS and 356 Nm of torque. The electric motor generates 180 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both sources together offer a maximum system output of 359 PS.
Full-LED headlamps with dynamic turn signals, 20-inch alloy wheels, full-LED tail lamps, moonroof, semi-aniline leather seats with heating and ventilation functions, (front: 28-way, rear: 22-way) power adjustment for the seats, four-zone climate control system, 12.3-inch central display for the infotainment system and 23-speaker Mark Levinson Reference 3D Surround Sound System are some of the key features of the 2018 Lexus LS.
The 2018 Lexus LS is available in LS 500 and LS 500h models in Japan. Prices of these models start at JP¥9,800,000 (INR 55,89,807.99) and JP¥11,200,000 (INR 63,88,351.98) respectively.
