It will get features like ESP and ASR.
Nissan will launch an AWD variant on the Terrano next year, sources told Indian Autos Blog. The Terrano AWD follows the launch of the Renault Duster AWD, which was introduced in India in September this year.
Being a badge-engineered product, Nissan wouldn't need to conduct extensive road tests of the car. Both, the Terrano and Duster are powered by the same 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine, and the AWD variant will see this engine produce 110 PS and 245 Nm of torque, matched to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Like the Duster AWD, the Terrano AWD will also benefit from features like Electronic Torque Control, ESP, Anti Skid Resistance, Hill Start and a dial which can be used to switch between 2WD and 4WD.
Sales of the Terrano took a hit last month with the SUV registering a decline of 75 percent compared to November 2013. Nissan sold only 719 units of the Terrano last month, whereas Renault sold 2,673 units of the Duster. The introduction of the AWD variant is expected to create some buzz around the product, and hopefully increase customer inquiries.
