Does the Sylphy concept preview Nissan India's D Segment ambition?

Many new cars are being shown at the Beijing Auto Show and while some manufacturers are forthcoming with the markets on the radars of their flashy exhibits, some don't know whether they should.

The Nissan Sylphy Concept, previewing what maybe the next generation Sentra, could lock horns with the Corolla in about two years time in India. Nissan has earmarked 120 countries across the globe to sell this model.

The exteriors are similar to the next generation Altima unveiled at the NY Auto Show earlier this month. Nissan claims that the trunk's capacity is among the best in its class. They have worked extensively on the ride to eliminate noise and vibration to the maximum extent possible and offer comfort through features like dual zone air conditioners, Intelligent Key and push-button start.

A new 1.8 liter engine equipped with variable valve timing technology delivers power through a and next-generation XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). We hope Nissan carries forward the LED treatment on the head and tail lights to the production model.

Nissan has not provided additional details on this model but says that it will introduce it in China in mid-2012.
