Nissan took the wraps off its new Resonance Concept Crossover at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit today.
The concept will form the basis of Nissan's future crossover designs and the company explains that it is inspired by a new "innovation era" and optimism for a bright and energetic future. Resonance was designed by Nissan Design America, San Diego, CA, under the leadership of Mr. Shiro Nakamura, the design head, who is seen posing in the images above with Mr. Andy Palmer, Nissan's Executive Vice President.
The crossover concept has "global relevance" says Nissan, hinting at what could eventually be the new Murano. According to Nissan, the concept is so named since the exterior design resonates light at its feet.
The concept is characterized by a prominent V-shaped acrylic grill with satin aluminium inserts and 22-inch alloy wheels. The interior with its smooth leather which is hand stitching is termed as a VIP lounge.
Features of Nissan Resonance Concept crossover
- The Resonance comes with Nissan's proprietary "one-motor, two-clutch" all wheel drive system that combines a smaller displacement petrol engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery module. The concept employes the next generation X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox
- Sequential welcome lighting to the interior
- A floating display in the console which has controls to infotainment and communication features
- The graphically layered screen uses difference in depth to categorize the information as per order of importance
Mr. Francois Bancon, Nissan Motor Co. division general manager, Product Strategy and Planning says that the Nissan Resonance Concept crossover is not meant to appeal to traditional buyers who look for a two box SUV, but is meant to attract style and fashion conscious customers.
