The words convertible and MPV usually never get featured in the same sentence. However the Italian coach building firm Giovanni Vernagallo has come up with a convertible MPV called the Nissan Evalia C.
The Evalia C is used to carry tourists around the city of Capri, Italy. Many years ago a similar convertible MPV based on the Nissan Serena was employed for the purpose and the Evalia comes in as a spiritual successor.
The Nissan Evalia a.k.a. NV200 is steadily building a worldwide reputation in the people carrier segment having been elected as the next London Black Cab and the New York Taxi. The Evalia qualifies as the suitable MPV to ferry the tourists with its top open.
The sheet metal roof is replaced by a removable fabric top. The sliding doors remain intact and the car can be specified with either 5 or 7 seats.
The powertrain options of the Evalia C is same as that of the regular MPV. The car is powered by a 1.6 litre 110hp petrol motor or the familiar 1.5 litre DCi (K9k) diesel which is available in two states of tune - 90hp and 110hp.
And guess what, the Evalia C is also available for private customers! The car can be ordered at any of Nissan Italy's showrooms or through Giovanni Vernagallo. The convertible version will take about 5 months to be prepared.
The catch is, the Nissan Evalia C comes with an exorbitant price of 47,500 Euros (around Rs. 37.16 lakhs) out of which the conversion process stands at 29,000 Euros (around Rs. 22.69 lakhs)!
