List of new two wheelers that will be seen at the Auto Expo 2016 – IAB Picks

Here is the list of two wheelers that are expected to be presented at Auto Expo - The Motor Show 2016 in Greater Noida in February. The event will not witness some brands like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson who are not participating at this year's show.

BMW G310R:

The BMW G310R was unveiled in early November and was revealed to the public at the EICMA 2015 in Milan later the same month. It is the first sub-500 cc motorcycle from the German motorcycle brand which is powered by a 313 cc backward-tilted single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 34 hp (25 kW) of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. It will be produced and launched in India early next year.

DSK Benelli Tornado 302:

The Tornado 302 was premiered at the 2015 EICMA in Milan last month. It is the fully-faired version of the Benelli TNT 302 which is available in India as the DSK Benelli TNT 300. Based on the same steel trestle frame and powertrain, the Tornado is more of a sports tourer than a super sports model. The liquid-cooled inline twin-cylinder 300 cc engine on the faired model is offered in a different state of tune. It produces 35 hp at 12,000 rpm and 27 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed unit.

DSK Benelli TRK 502:

Unveiled at the EICMA 2015, the all-new Benelli TRK 502 is scheduled to be launched in India around September 2016. There are two variants - one with city tyres and another with dual-purpose tyres. The adventure tourer is powered by a new 500 cc inline twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that generates 48 PS at 8,500 rpm and 45 Nm at 4,500 rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.

DSK Hyosung GV300:

Replacing the Hyosung GV250 (the Hyosung Aquila 250), the GV300 is an all-new model that is powered by a 275 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces 26.6 PS and 23.5 Nm, and is mated to a five-speed unit. It was introduced at EICMA 2015 in Milan last month and is expected to be launched in India at or around the Auto Expo 2016. It is expected to be priced close to INR 3 lakhs and will be equipped with ABS.

DSK Hyosung GT300R:

The GT300R is the super sports version of the GV300. Expected to replace the Hyosung GT250R, the GT300R is be powered by the same 275 cc V-twin engine that pushes the cruiser. This model which was also unveiled at the EICMA, is expected to be shown alongside the GV300. It is slated for launch in India in mid-2016.

DSK Hyosung GD450 Concept:

The GD450 Concept was unveiled at the EICMA 2015 and its production version is expected to go on sale globally next year. It is powered by a 449 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with DOHC, that has a high compression ratio of 11.8:1. The motor produces 50 PS at 7,500 rpm and 47.7 Nm at 7,000 rpm, and is mated to a close-ratio 6-speed gearbox.

DSK Hyosung GT650R:

An updated version of the GT650R was unveiled at the EICMA 2015. The model is confirmed to be launched in India in mid-2016. It features revised cosmetics and a retuned engine which produces 74.4 PS and 54.4 Nm. The new model would be lighter and have a smaller fuel tank of 15 litres.

Hero HX250R:

Having its market introduction continuously delayed over this year, the HX250R is expected to be launched at or around the Auto Expo. It will be positioned above the Karizma ZMR as the new flagship product. The sports tourer is powered by a 249 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system, that produces 31 bhp and 26 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. After EBR declared bankruptcy, Hero MotoCorp decided to complete the HX250R and other projects in-house.

Honda Two Wheelers:

Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, told IAB that there will be surprise unveils at the Auto Expo. He declined to comment further but mentioned that the Honda CBR300R will not be introduced in India. He further divulged that in the next two to three years, the company will focus on localising high displacement motorcycles.

Mahindra Two Wheelers:

IndianAutosBlog has learnt that MTWL will be showcasing a special (custom) version of the Mahindra Mojo at the Expo and possibly unveil the Mahindra Gusto 125. It is less likely that the ABS version of the Mojo will be showcased at the event.

Suzuki Gixxer 250:

Reports have suggested that a Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be making its debut at the Auto Expo although there is no official information yet pertaining to the existence of such a model. It is expected to be based on the GSX platform and use a 250 cc engine that will produce 25-30 bhp of peak power. ABS is expected to be offered.

Suzuki Gixxer / SF disc brake variant:

Spyshots have indicated that Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning to launch variant extensions of the Suzuki Gixxer and the Gixxer SF models with a rear disc brake. No other changes are expected. These models could be shown at the Expo.

2016 Triumph Bonneville:

The next generation Bonneville family includes the Street Twin, the T120, the T120 Black, the Thruxton and the Thruxton R, in the order of value. While the current family uses the same chassis and the twin-cylinder 865 cc air-cooled engine, the new models use very distinct frames and powertrains.

The Street Twin is powered by a 900 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that generates 80 Nm of peak torque which is 18 percent more than the previous entry-level Bonneville had in store. The peak power rating is yet to be announced.

2016 Triumph Bonneville T120 and T120 Black:

The duo is powered by a 1,200 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces a peak torque of 105 Nm which is 54 percent more than the T100. The motor has rain and road riding modes.

The Thruxton twin uses a more powerful version of the 1,200 parallel-twin engine that produces a peak torque of 112 Nm which is 62 percent higher than on the outgoing model. This engine has three riding modes - Road, Rain and Sport.

2016 Triumph Speed Triple:

The next generation Speed Triple R and Speed Triple S were unveiled at the EICMA 2015. The 1050cc three-cylinder engine has been thoroughly reengineered and has a total of 104 changes compared to the motor on the outgoing model. The new engine is said to be more powerful and torquey while delivering 10 percent higher fuel economy. The models are provided with different riding modes, switchable ABS and switchable Traction Control.

TVS Apache 200:

Based on the TVS Draken X21 concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, the company has developed an all-new motorcycle that is expected to be named the Apache 200. It is known to be powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder engine with an oil-cooler and possibly an SOHC arrangement, that could produce around 25 PS of maximum power. The motorcycle has taken some styling cues from the Draken concept and some equipment seemingly from the current Apache variants.

TVS version of the BMW G310R:

Much like the case of the KTM Duke 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS, TVS will launch its own version of the BMW G310R. There is no information pertaining to the differences between the two, but it is confirmed that both the models will be sold in India while only the BMW version would be exported. They are expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo and launched soon after.

UM India:

UM Motorcycles, the company that has partnered with the UP-based Lohia Auto for manufacturing motorcycles for local and export markets, has confirmed the launch of the UM Renegade Commando in two variants and another cruiser model. The launch of the Renegade will mark the launch of the 'UM Motorcycles' brand in the country. The company also has plans to export its cruisers to various markets.

Yamaha India:

There is no direct information on what Yamaha could unveil at the Auto Expo, but we believe that the company could present the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 (a.k.a. the next generation Yamaha R15) which could have some of the features that the Yamaha M-Slaz (MT-15) has like the inverted fork. It is unclear if the company has plans to introduce the Yamaha MT-03 or the Yamaha MT-25 in India.
