Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the new Hero Xtreme 200R in the country. The bike will be available for sale in dealerships across India from April 2018.
The bookings for the bike will commence soon, and Hero will reveal the price of the motorcycle at the 2018 Auto Expo next month. The Indian bike maker has designed and developed the motorcycle at the Hero Centre of innovation and Technology in Jaipur. With the new Hero Xtreme 200R, the brand ‘aims to aggressively gain market share in the premium segment’. Malo Le Masson, Head of Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp said:
The all-new Xtreme 200R is a bold and focussed step towards re-shaping our presence in the premium segment. The Xtreme 200R is a real head-turner, which - combined with competitive performance - is going to appeal to the youth in India as well as in our global markets. This is only the beginning. From 2018 onwards, the focus for Hero MotoCorp in motorcycles is the premium segment, and we will continue to bring more products in this category.
The engine is an all-new 199.6 cc single cylinder unit with air cooling. It develops 18.35 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine mates with a 5-speed transmission, and has a fuel consumption figure of 39.9 km/l as per WMTC norm. The diamond type frame rides on 37 mm front telescopic fork and a 7-step adjustable rear monoshock. The 276 mm front disc comes with an optional single-channel ABS. The rear gets a 220 mm disc. A 100-section front and a 130-section rear MRF radial tyres wrap the 17-inch alloy wheels.

The seat is 790 mm high, and the bike weighs 146 kg, kerb. The riding position is slightly forward, but is tuned for more comfort. They have tuned the exhaust too, for a pleasant note. The engine is counterbalanced for additional refinement. The halogen headlight comes with LED pilot lamps and the tail light is LED. The instrument cluster is an analogue-digital combo unit.

The bike locks horns with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, and the KTM 200 Duke in its segment. The bike is available in five dual-tone colour schemes: Panther Black with cool Silver; Panther Black with Red; Sports Red; Charcoal Grey with Orange, and Techno Blue.
