Ford of Brazil have launched the new Ford Ka today. The hatchback is available in two trim levels and is priced at 35,390 BRL (INR 9.53 lakhs) for the SE, and 39,990 BRL (INR 10.77 lakhs) for the top-end SEL.
The base SE is equipped with electric power steering, air conditioning, electric windows in the front, central locking, knife-type key with remote controls, tilt adjustable steering column, sound system with bluetooth, USB and My Ford Dock. The SEL adds 15-inch alloy wheels, alarm system, trip computer, driver's seat height adjustment and ESC (electronic stability control).
Powering the new Ka is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder non turbocharged engine producing 85 bhp and 107 Nm of torque, matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine is capable of running on gasoline and ethanol. A more powerful 1.5-liter engine option will come in the future.
Inside, the Ka comes equipped with a similar cabin seen on the new Fiesta. A chunky 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, silver inserts for the center console, a central screen and Ford's SYNC multimedia system are some of the features seen on these cars.
The new Ka will replace the Figo in India next year. In India, the car will likely be made at Ford's upcoming plant in Sanand, Gujarat from April 2015.
