The Auto Expo 2016 will return to Greater Noida in the first week of February 2016. In its 13th edition, the "Delhi Motor Show" as it is otherwise known, will host a range of new cars that will launch in India next year. Below is a list of what to expect:
2016 Audi A4:
Audi India is expected to showcase the B9 A4, based on the MLB Evo platform, at the Auto Expo shortly before its launch, which is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2016. The new A4 is lighter by 120 kg and sports new features like the Matrix LED headlights, Virtual Cockpit, phonebox with wireless charging etc.
2016 Audi R8:
Alongside the new A4, Audi is also expected to show the second generation 2016 R8. Based on a new spaceframe construction, the R8 is currently offered in European markets with the 5.2-liter V10 engine which also does duty on the Lamborghini Huracan.
2016 Audi A8 Security:
Audi India has confirmed that it will showcase the A8 Security armored luxury sedan at the Auto Expo.
2016 BMW 7 Series:
A spokesperson for BMW India has already confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the new 7 Series will have its market launch at the Auto Expo. The luxury sedan is expected to be offered in India exclusively in the long wheelbase variant with a six-cylinder diesel engine.
2016 BMW X1:
Frank Schloeder, Director, Marketing of BMW India, confirmed to a publication that the second generation BMW X1 will have its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016.
BMW 3 Series facelift:
BMW India has confirmed that the updated 3 Series with the LED headlights will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016.
Chevrolet Beat Cross Concept:
The Chevrolet Beat Cross Concept will have its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2016. It could materialize to a production model next year.
Chevrolet Cruze facelift:
The Cruze will get a minor cosmetic update at the Auto Expo 2016. There are no changes to the mechanicals though.
Datsun Go-Cross Concept:
Reports have indicated that Datsun will showcase the Go-Cross concept at the Auto Expo. The concept, based on the Go+, was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show this year.
Datsun Redi-Go production version:
The production version of the Datsun Redi-go concept, codenamed Datsun I2, is expected to break cover at the Auto Expo. Based on the CMF-A platform, the I2 will be Datsun's smallest and most affordable offering.
Ford Mustang:
Ford India is likely to showcase the Mustang at the Auto Expo. The Mustang would be the brand's halo offering in the Indian market. Spyshots have shown the GT-version with the 5.0-liter V8 engine undergoing homologation.
2016 Ford Endeavour:
Visitors can certainly expect to see the 2016 Ford Endeavour at the Auto Expo. According to sources, the market launch of the SUV would have taken place weeks before the Expo itself, possibly in the month of January 2016.
Chevrolet Spin:
GM India already showcased the Spin MPV in India this year, but the forthcoming Auto Expo could witness the market launch of the product. The Spin will rival the likes of the Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga and Renault Lodgy when launched.
Honda Jazz RS:
Reports state that Honda will showcase the Jazz RS at the Auto Expo, and that it will be offered with a diesel engine in the Indian market.
Honda Accord:
Honda Cars India has confirmed that the market launch of the Accord will take place next year. Prior to going on sale, the luxury sedan is expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo.
Honda BR-V:
Honda Cars India will showcase the BR-V at the Auto Expo, though a market launch is expected in the first half of 2016. The BR-V for India will be powered by 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines, though a new 6-speed manual transmission could be introduced on the petrol.
Hyundai Tucson:
The Hyundai Tucson will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, and its market launch is scheduled this year, reports state.
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid:
Hyundai will showcase the new Sonata Hybrid, and the company could consider its launch later in the year.
Jaguar XE:
Jaguar's answer to the Mercedes C Class, the XE, will have its Indian launch at the Auto Expo 2016, according to reports. Based on the new iQ aluminium platform, the XE is likely to debut JLR's Ingenium engine family in the Indian market.
Jaguar XF:
According to reports, the second generation XF will be showcased at the Auto Expo but a launch will take place towards mid-2016. The XF too rides on the aluminium platform
Jaguar F-Pace:
Jaguar's first SUV, the F-Pace, will be in attendance at the Auto Expo 2016. The F-Pace is expected to launch towards the second half of next year, with prices estimated near the INR 60 lakh mark.
Jeep:
FCA India is expected to launch the Jeep brand at the Auto Expo 2016. Initially, the portfolio will consist of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models.
Mahindra XUV Aero concept:
Mahindra will reveal the XUV Aero coupe-SUV concept at the Auto Expo 2016. Seen here is the official design sketch.
Mahindra KUV100:
Mahindra's smallest passenger vehicle, the Mahindra KUV100 will be seen at the Auto Expo in a highly accessorized and customized form.
Mahindra Quanto facelift/Mahindra Canto:
Mahindra is also expected to showcase the Quanto facelift (what could be called the Canto) at the Auto Expo. Test mules have revealed a new front fascia for the compact vehicle, and sources say an automated manual transmission (AMT) will also find its way on the product.
Maruti YBA/Maruti Vitara Brezza:
As reported by Indian Autos Blog, the Maruti YBA (codenamed) sub-4m SUV is likely to have its media reveal prior to the Auto Expo. Prospective buyers on the other hand can experience the EcoSport rival for the first time at the Auto Expo.
Maruti Ignis:
Maruti is likely to use the Auto Expo to gauge feedback for the Ignis, which was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show this year. Sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the Ignis will enter production in India towards late-2016 or in 2017.
Maruti Baleno RS:
The Baleno RS will have its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2016, the carmaker confirmed.
Mercedes GLC:
The Mercedes GLC will have its Indian debut at the Auto Expo. The replacement for the left-hand drive only GLK Class rides on the C Class's MRA platform and is expected to launch in India in mid-2016.
Mercedes GLS:
Mercedes-Benz India is likely to showcase the GLS, basically the facelifted GL Class, at the Auto Expo. Minor exterior and interior tweaks aside, the GLS will continue to be produced at the Chakan plant.
Nissan X-Trail:
According to reports, Nissan India will launch the X-Trail at the Auto Expo. The X-Trail's re-launch will see the Japanese company once again focus on the premium segment, rivaling the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Trailblazer etc.
Renault Kwid AMT/Renault Kwid 1L:
According to a report, the AMT and more powerful 1L variants of the Kwid will be shown at the Auto Expo 2016. The market launches for these variants are expected next year.
Renault Duster facelift:
Renault India will, reportedly, showcase the Duster facelift at the Auto Expo. The compact SUV will get updated styling but most importably will introduce an automated manual transmission (AMT) on its diesel variant.
Renault Kwid concepts:
According to a report, the Renault Kwid Racer and Climber concepts will debut at the Auto Expo 2016.
Ssangyong Tivoli:
Mahindra-owned Ssangyong will showcase the Tivoli at the Auto Expo, though the company maintains a launch is undecided. The Rexton continues to be Ssangyong's sole offering in the Indian market.
Tata "Osprey"/Tata Nexon production version:
The production version of the Nexon concept, what is codenamed "Osprey" will be shown at the Auto Expo 2016, exactly 24 months after the debut of the concept. The sub-4m SUV will target the Maruti YBA and Ford EcoSport when launched.
Tata Hexa production version:
Tata Motors will show the Hexa for the first time in India at the Auto Expo. The Aria-based crossover gets the Horizonext treatment, and if reports are to be believed, it will also receive a GM-sourced 6-speed AT.
Tata Zica-based compact sedan:
According to sources, the Zica-based compact sedan will be revealed at the Auto Expo, though its market launch will take place towards mid-2016. It will be powered by the same three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines that do duty on the Zica hatchback.
Tata Bolt Sport:
The Tata Bolt Sport with the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol in its 120 hp state will make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016.
Tata Safari Storme Tuff, Zica Aktiv:
Customized versions of the Tata Safari Storme and Tata Zica will be revealed at the Auto Expo.
Toyota Corolla Hybrid:
TKM will show the Corolla Hybrid at the Auto Expo 2016. The car could be introduced in the country at a later stage.
2016 Toyota Innova:
The second-generation 2016 Innova will be shown to the Indian audience for the first time at the Auto Expo. TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) plans to launch the MPV in India next year with an all-new 2.4-liter GD diesel engine.
2016 Toyota Prius:
TKM's deputy managing director, Mr. Jaishankar, confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the 2016 Prius will have its debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The Prius went on sale in its first market in Japan last week with a class-leading fuel efficiency claim of 40+ km/l.
Toyota Vios:
Another product expected at TKM's stall is the Toyota Vios, which, when launched, will rival the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and VW Vento.
VW Polo GTI:
A recent report states that the VW Polo GTI will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, prior to a market launch in mid-2016.
VW ICS:
VW's Polo-based Indian Compact Sedan (ICS) is confirmed to have its reveal at the Auto Expo 2016. The Maruti Dzire-rival will source power from the 1.5-liter TDI engine and the 1.2-liter MPi petrol unit.
2016 VW Tiguan:
VW India is also expected to showcase the second generation Tiguan at the Auto Expo. The SUV is outlined as one of the new models the brand will launch in the country next year.
2016 VW Passat:
The MQB-based 2016 Passat is expected to be seen at the Auto Expo. Sharing over 50 percent of its components with the new Skoda Superb, the Passat is expected in India with the 2.0-liter TDI engine paired to the DSG transmission.
