The GIIAS 2017 marks the official public debut of Mitsubishi's new MPV called Xpander. The Mitsubishi Xpander first broke cover on July 14, followed by official images and leaked information revealing details about the MPV.
The Xpander gets a rather unconventional looking front end based on Mitsubishi's 'Dynamic Shield' design. The headlamps and turn indicators are placed in the front bumper while the cluster flanking the grille is for LED pilot lamps. At the back, the Mitsubishi Xpander gets L-shape tail lights with LED detailing. The example on the display at the GIIAS 2017 wears a body kit with bumper extensions and side skirts and is finished in Quartz White Pearl.
On the inside, the cabin is draped in a black-beige combo, save for the Sport trim which will get an all-black cabin. The steering wheel has been borrowed from the Mirage, while the instrument console resembles that of the Pajero Sport. The features list of the Mitsubishi Xpander was leaked yesterday revealing the variant wise break up. Top of the line Sport and Ultimate trims get keyless entry, push button start, colour LCD multi information display, brake assist and hill start assist. The top-end Ultimate trim adds a touchscreen and reverse parking camera to the Xpander.
Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Xpander uses a 1.5 L four cylinder MIVEC engine that produces 77 kW (103.26 hp) and 141 Nm with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. It is 4,475 mm long, 1,750 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall.
Prices are yet to be revealed but media reports point towards an estimated range of Rp. 189 million (INR 9,03,515.15) to Rp. 246 million (INR 11,76,003.85).
