The 35th Bangkok International Motor Show has commenced today and we're coming to you live from the show. Mitsubishi have showcased the Mirage hatchback and Attrage sedan, two products which are reported to be in the reckoning for an Indian launch by 2016.
Mitsubishi Mirage
The Mirage is a hatchback in the class of the Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio. It measures 3.71 meters in length and weighs between 830-870 kg. Power comes from a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine producing 78 PS at 6,000 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
Mitsubishi Attrage
Think of the Mirage-Attrage combo as Mitsubishi's way of competing with the Nissan Micra-Sunny. The Attrage is based on the Mirage's platform and measures 4.245 meters in length. Like the Mirage, the Attrage is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine producing the same power and torque outputs as the hatchback. Even the transmission options - 5-speed MT and CVT - are carried over from the Mirage.
The Attrage and Mirage are classified as Eco Cars in Thailand, as they achieve fuel efficiency greater than 20 km/l. Both cars are made at Mitsubishi's Laem Chabang plant in the industrial estate in Chonburi province in Thailand.
