MG made waves in the Indian market with the showcase of Hector last month. Today, the company has started accepting its pre-bookings and announced that the test drives will be made available from the 12th of this month. The pre-bookings can be done either physically, at any of the MG dealerships, or online, at the official MG webpage. The launch of the new C-SUV will take place later this month.
MG also inaugurated its flagship store in India today, at Milestone Experian Centre, Sector-15, Gurugram, Haryana. It plans to expand its current network of 120 dealerships to a total of 250 centres across India by September this year.
Commenting on the flagship store inauguration, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, "Our first interaction with the customers in a creative and experiential environment is essential for the MG brand and creates a strong foundation as we begin our journey in India. The one-of-its-kind flagship experience store redefines the traditional car buying experience in India, in line with the demands and requirements of new-age customers."
The MG Hector boasts 50+ connected features, and it will be launched as the first internet SUV in its segment. Features like 10.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera view, 8-colour ambient lighting, 4-way power adjustable co-driver seat and Infinity premium sound system are part of its exclusive 19-features package.
MG offers the Hector with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque as well as a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine developing 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (with only petrol engine). The claimed fuel economy rating of the C-SUV will be 14.16 km/l (petrol-MT)/13.96 km/l (petrol-DCT)/17.41 km/l (diesel-MT). There's also an option for a mild-hybrid system in the petrol engine that increases the higher fuel economy rating by 12% and provides a torque boost of 20 Nm.

The MG Hector is likely to cost somewhere in the INR 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom) range. After this C-SUV, India will get the MG eZS B-SUV this year. MG has already started testing the same on the Indian roads.
