MG Hector launched in India, priced from INR 12.18 lakh

The MG Hector has been launched in India, with prices starting at just INR 12.18 lakh*. The range-topping configuration of the new C-SUV costs INR 16.88 lakh*.

The Hector is the first MG product for India. It has indeed been priced very aggressively and is offered in four variants along with three engine-gearbox combinations. The internet SUV from MG is available in a total of two petrol-MT configurations, two petrol-AT configurations, four diesel-MT configurations and three petrol-electric-MT configurations.

Engine options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit w/o 48-volt mild-hybrid tech and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit. The former produces 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque while the latter delivers 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic are the transmission choices. The claimed fuel economy of the MG Hector stands at 14.16 km/l (petrol-MT)/15.81 km/l (petrol-electric-MT)/13.96 km/l (petrol-AT)/17.41 km/l (diesel-MT).

The MG Hector boasts 50+ connected vehicle features which make its proposition quite unique for the segment. It comprises 19 first-in-segment features, including 10.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera view, 8-colour ambient lighting, 4-way power adjustable co-driver seat and Infinity premium sound system.

The safety kit of the MG Hector includes features like ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, rear parking sensors and disc brake on all four wheels as standard. Of the four available trims, the higher 'Smart' trim is equipped with four airbags and the range-topping 'Sharp' trim is equipped with six airbags.
