Powered by the same engine as the recently launched CLA 45 AMG.
Mercedes-Benz India today announced that the Mercedes GLA 45 AMG will be launched locally on October 27. The company had announced at the time of the GLA's media test drive that it would introduce the performance-oriented version of the crossover this month.
The GLA 45 AMG shares its engine with the CLA 45 AMG which was launched in India in July this year. The engine in question is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged motor which makes 360 hp at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 2,250 - 5,000 rpm. The drive is dispersed to all wheels via the Mercedes 4MATIC system and a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission.
The result is that the GLA 45 AMG can do 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and hit an electronically limited top-speed of 250 km/h. Adding to the performance factor, the GLA 45 AMG gets sports suspension, sports seats, 19-inch alloy wheels, quad-exhausts and more aggressively designed front and rear bumpers.
The GLA 45 AMG will be imported via the CBU (Completely Built up Unit) route. Competition as such doesn't exist for the car, as Audi doesn't sell the RS Q3 in India. With the launch of the GLA 45 however, Audi would think of the possibility of introducing the performance Q3 in India.
