The Maruti Wagon R facelift is not a major cosmetic overhaul, the departure is mild with a larger trapezoidal air dam up front, a downsized grille featuring one horizontal slat instead of two, and a newly cast bumper.

The fog lamps are built into enclosures that are symmetrical to the headlight units. Beside these changes, there's nothing more one can figure out from the visuals in the advert. Maruti has not upholstered the cabin in a beige tone. speculates that Maruti Suzuki would launch the updated Wagon R in India this month. The story reads that dealers are taking bookings for the mildly revised model that is mechanically unchanged. The Wagon R is powered by a 1-liter K Series engine that develops 68 PS of power and 90 Nm of torque. It is available in petrol, LPG and CNG variants and should continue that way with the facelift's launch.

The Wagon R has experienced a very bumpy 2013 from the sales perspective. Around the festival season, the car looked like its breaking out of the shell, but to prevent monthly sales from entering four digits, a refresh or change is required.

Maruti don't have the luxury of a small diesel engine that can be used on cars such as the A-Star and Wagon R. An engine about the size and configuration of the Beat's 1L diesel would be a close match for the B1 segment Maruti models.

Maruti shouldn't be able to bring diesel technology into the Wagon R this year, but they must be planning out something to secure its future.
