Maruti Suzuki has updated the previous generation Dzire-based Tour S by introducing various new standard safety features. These are driver’s side airbag, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system and front SBR. The safety update indicates that the aged sub-4 metre sedan is still in good demand.
The Maruti Tour S is one of the top choices for cab operators in India. The new update has been brought to the car in order to comply with the latest and upcoming car safety norms in India. At the start of this month, ABS became a standard requirement, while from the 1st of July, a driver airbag, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system and front SBR will have to be part of the car's standard safety kit. Interestingly, the newer, third generation Maruti Dzire, is yet to gain co-driver seat belt reminder and speed alert system and be offered with reverse parking sensors as standard.
The Maruti Tour S continues being offered with the same engine options: 61 kW (82.94 PS) 1.2-litre petrol, 55 kW (74.78 PS) 1.3-litre diesel and 52.5 kW*/62 kW** (71.38 PS*/84.30 PS**) petrol-CNG. Irrespective of the engine selected, power goes to the front wheels via a standard 5-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed automated manual transmission choice is unavailable.
