Overdrive reports that Maruti's new plant in Sanand, Gujarat will serve as a production hub for the Maruti Ignis. Suzuki is planning to export the India-made Ignis to its markets across the globe.
Already available for sale in Japan and scheduled for launch in India in the festive season, the Maruti Ignis will be the company's smallest crossover in their product range. Unveiled to the Indian public at the Auto Expo 2016, the Ignis measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm in wide, 1,595 mm in high, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase and a 180 mm high ground clearance.
The Ignis for global markets may be equipped with a 1.25-liter four-cylinder K12C DualJet petrol engine with VVT and SHVS mild-hybrid technology, producing 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque. The India-spec Ignis is likely to source its engine lineup from the Maruti Baleno, which includes the 1.2-liter K12B engine with VVT and 1.3-liter DDiS engine. The latter is reported to offer an SHVS mild hybrid system. A 5-speed manual will be standard in both models, while a CVT could be exclusive for the petrol variant.

It's unclear as to when Maruti will commence exports of the Ignis to other markets. As for the Indian launch, the Maruti Ignis will go on sale during the festive season at Maruti's premium line of NEXA dealerships.
