Global launch of Suzuki's first diesel engine.
Maruti-Suzuki India Limited today launched the Celerio diesel, thus also conducting the global launch of Suzuki Motor Corporation's first diesel engine. Following are the prices of the Maruti Celerio diesel -
- Maruti Celerio diesel LDi - INR 4.65 lakhs
- Maruti Celerio diesel VDi - INR 4.95 lakhs
- Maruti Celerio diesel ZDi - INR 5.25 lakhs
- Maruti Celerio diesel ZDi (O) - INR 5.71 lakhs

The Celerio diesel is powered by the DDiS 125 engine, which happens to be a two-cylinder 793 cc unit capable of 47 bhp at 3,500 rpm and 125 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Celerio diesel claims 27.62 km/l in the ARAI tests, thus clinching the title of India's most fuel efficient diesel passenger vehicle.
Maruti Suzuki and its suppliers have invested over INR 900 crores for the development of the DDiS 125 engine, and it is made in India with a localization of 97 percent. The 89 kg engine ensures in a light kerb weight of the Celerio diesel, which tips the scale at 900 kg for the top-end variant.
The Celerio diesel will come in four variants namely LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi (O). The top-end ZDi (O) gets dual front airbags and ABS, while the ZDi gets only a driver-side airbag, and does without ABS. A total of six colors are offered on the Celerio diesel, identical to the petrol variant.
