Will debut the 1.0L Boosterjet in India.
A Team-BHP member has managed to acquire a technical specification sheet of the Maruti Baleno RS reported to launch for sale in February. The Baleno RS will debut the 1.0L Boosterjet (turbo) petrol engine in India.
According to the spec sheet, the Maruti Baleno RS will output 100 hp (75kW) at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque between 1,700 rpm - 4,500 rpm, which is slightly lower than the Euro-spec Baleno Boosterjet. It has a kerb weight of 950 kg (with fluids, spare wheel and tools), so expect performance to be sprightly. Rumour also has it that the Baleno RS will be tuned to be more fuel efficient than the Baleno 1.2 petrol.
The Baleno RS will have a 5-speed manual gearbox, while reports speculate that a 6-speed automatic is also in the offing. It also appears that Maruti will offer an option between 15 inch and 16-inch alloy rims wrapped with 185/65 R15 and 195/55/ R16, respectively, suggesting that there will be two variants at launch. So a 6-speed AT in the top-end model with 16-inch rims is a possibility.
