The best selling SUV and ICOTY of 2016.
Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Vitara Brezza has garnered over 200,000 bookings since its launch last March. It is the best selling SUV and ICOTY (Indian Car of The Year) of 2016, despite Maruti Suzuki being late to the compact SUV segment.
The Vitara Brezza is one of the most affordable SUVs in the market, priced between INR 7.4 Lakhs – INR 9.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is only available with diesel power, which comes from the familiar 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder engine producing 90 PS at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Recently Maruti introduced the iCreate customisation program for the Vitara Brezza, where customers are offered a wide variety of options to personalise their car.
To widen the appeal and better compete with sub-4m SUV rivals Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Tata Nexon, a petrol variant of the Vitara Brezza is reported to arrive in May 2017, while an AMT option similar to the Maruti Ignis’s drivetrain is in the pipeline as well.
