Exports of the Baleno will start from early-2016.
According to a report on the Economic Times, the Maruti Baleno has bagged over 21,000 bookings since its launch on October 26.
The Baleno is sold exclusively through Maruti's NEXA chain of dealerships, which have witnessed over 56,000 footfalls since the hatchback's launch. The waiting period for the Baleno stretches over 8 weeks for almost all variants.
The Baleno is available with the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. On the petrol, buyers can also opt for a CVT gearbox, on the Delta variant.
Prices for the Baleno range between INR 4.99 – 7.01 lakhs for the petrol, and INR 6.16 – 8.11 lakhs for the diesel, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. ABS, EBD and dual front airbags are standard across all variants of the hatchback, which rivals the like of the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the VW Polo.
Maruti announced during the market launch of the Baleno that India will be the sole manufacturing base of the premium hatchback. Exports to Europe and Asian markets including Japan will start in early-2016, the company said. For export markets, the Baleno will be powered by the all-new Boosterjet 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, or a DualJet engine which is expected to be coupled to the SHVS mild-hybrid technology.
