The Mahindra Scorpio EX entry level variant which is powered by the 2.5-litre 75 bhp m2DiCR diesel engine has been recalled for preventive inspection.
The recall covers 23,519 units of the base model which are manufactured between May 2012 to November 2013. Mahindra has announced that the recall is to check a potential fault in the pressure regulating valves.
Mahindra has announced that customers will be contacted individually and the components, if found faulty, would be replaced free of cost. The company also stated that the recall will not affect other variants of the Scorpio. Except the EX, all other Scorpio variants are powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.
This is the second recall of the Scorpio EX in less than a year. Earlier, 985 units that were manufactured between October and November 2013 were recalled for the same issue.
Meanwhile, the Mahindra Scorpio facelift is in its final phase of testing. Due for a launch during the year-end or early next year, the refreshed SUV receives comprehensive visual upgrades to the front fascia and the dashboard while the rear fascia gets minor updates like new LED taillights.
The new Scorpio is expected to retain the powertrain and variant lineups. The EX variant with its 2.5-litre unit is expected to continue being the entry level model while the higher variants would get the mHawk motor.
