The Mahindra Scorpio has recorded sales of 400,000 units since its launch in 2002 and sales graphs show that it is getting better with age. Mahindra has sold about 50,000 copies of the Scorpio per annum over the last two years, meaning that a quarter of its grand total came during 1/5th or so of its lifetime.
Over the years, the overall looks of the Scorpio haven't changed much and Mahindra has only refreshed parts such as the combination lights, the grille and the bumpers. While initially launched with a 2.6-liter engine, current Scorpios use a more modern 2.2-liter mHawk engine.
Just last week, Mahindra launched a special edition Scorpio that is limited to only 500 units. The limited edition Scorpio gets a 9-inch DVD player, 'luxurious European' leather interiors and a leather wrapped gear knob. That being said, Mahindra is working on refreshing the Scorpio with early test mules out on roads.
Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said -
