The Mahindra XUV500 petrol’s launch is just around the corner. According to a report from Autocar India, Mahindra will offer the Mahindra XUV500 petrol in one configuration.
The Mahindra XUV900 petrol will introduce a new ‘G’ series of grades. Sources say that it will sell only in a ‘G9’ grade at launch. Its petrol engine is a 2.2-litre unit based on the same engine block as that of the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The motor will produce 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque. It will send power to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. A manual transmission model is likely to join the range later.
The Mahindra XUV500 G9 will feature a touchscreen infotainment system but not leather seats. It will likely miss out alloy wheels as well. While the range-topping XUV500 diesel is equipped with six airbags, the XUV500 petrol will settle for two airbags. Standard ABS with EBD is a given.

Along with the Mahindra XUV500 petrol, Mahindra is planning an upgraded Mahindra XUV500 diesel. The new XUV500 diesel's 2.2-litre mHawk engine will likely produce around 170 PS and at least 350 Nm of torque. It could be that both engine models will arrive together.
