The all-new Wagon R will likely come with 1.0-litre petrol, 1.0-litre petrol-CNG and 1.0-litre petrol-LPG and 1.2-litre petrol engine options.

“We are glad and welcome Maruti pushing the LPG variant in one of its most reliable and top-selling car models, the WagonR,” has said. The all-new Wagon R will likely come with 1.0-litre petrol, 1.0-litre petrol-CNG and 1.0-litre petrol-LPG and 1.2-litre petrol engine options. Transmission choices, like in the outgoing model, will include 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual.

Reports say that in April 2020, a pure electric variant will follow to become the company’s first EV in the country. A 7-seat version was rumoured, but the demand for such an offering is too low, CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki, has told IAB.

The 2019 Maruti Wagon R features an evolutionary design for staying familiar and practical. Like recent new generation Maruti Suzuki cars, it doesn’t ride on the Heartect platform. The company has simply upgraded the old platform to keep the costs in check. Inside, one can expect a touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support) this time, a feature that is available in even lower priced cars like the Renault Kwid and Datsun Go. On the safety front, driver airbag and ABS are expected as standard.
