Freelander 2 to cease sales by April.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched in India in August 2015, and the company will assemble the SUV by way of CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits at its plant in Pune, reports Autocar India.
For the Indian market, the Discovery Sport will be sold with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine only, and the 2.0-liter petrol will not be offered. The diesel motor will be available in power states of 147 bhp and 187 bhp. Also for the Indian market, the SUV will come with a 9-speed automatic transmission only.
According to the report, the Discovery Sport will be sold in its high-spec HSE trim which is loaded with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, xenon headlights and dual-zone climate control.
Unlike competitors, the Discovery Sport gets a 5+2 seating configuration which could go down well with the Indian family buyer.
