The Kia Stinger has made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Billed as the highest-performance production Kia to the date, the Kia Stinger is the production version of the Kia GT concept introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2017).
Featuring a dramatic design overseen by Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors, and Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at Kia Motors Europe, the Kia Stinger dates back to 2011 when the Kia GT concept was introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The striking gran turismo measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width and 1,400 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,905 mm.
In Europe, Kia will offer the Kia Stinger with three engines: 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 3.3-litre biturbo V6 petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The 2.0-litre unit petrol unit produces 258 PS and 353 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre diesel engine develops 202 PS and 441 Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line 3.3-litre engine delivers 370 PS and 510 Nm of torque and makes the car capable of hitting 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. Kia is targeting this model to have a top speed of 269 km/h. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard, which sends power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels.
Noteworthy features of the Kia Stinger include LED headlamps, 19-inch wheels, Brembo disc brakes, height-adjustable head-up display, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 720-watt, 15-speaker Harman-Kardon surround-sound audio system, Nappa leather seats, Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system, Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking and pedestrian recognition, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Detection.
The Kia Stinger will enter production in the second half of 2017 and go on sale across Europe in Q4 2017.
