Jeep India today started officially accepted pre-bookings for the Compass Trailhawk for a token amount of INR 50,000, which is fully refundable. The pre-booking can be made at any of the 82 FCA dealerships across India.

The Trailhawk is the off-road-oriented variant of the Jeep Compass. On the outside, it comes with a number of visual changes compared to regular variant. It features a prominent black anti-glare hood decal, red recovery hook (rear), skid plates, grey window surrounds, 'Trail Rated' badging and distinctive 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels which differentiate it from the regular variant.

The 'Traihawk' badge on the SUV means that it is one of the most hardcore SUVs not only in the entire Compass range, but also in the segment it retails in. The ground clearance has been raised by 30 mm, the water wading depth has increased by 510 mm, and the approach, ramp breakover and departure angles have also improved. All this makes it slightly easy for it to explore the greater depths off the road. Apart from this, in terms of off-road focused equipment, it comes loaded with Jeep’s ‘Active Drive Low 4x4 system’ which comprises a low-range, hill-descent control and a Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system in addition to the Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud modes.

Keeping the new off-road equipment wizardry aside, some major upgrades are also reserved for the under-bonnet area. It is powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine (173PS/350Nm). It is also the first diesel configuration of the Compass in India to be available with an automatic transmission. The AT is a 9-speed torque converter unit. Inside the cabin, it features an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with onboard navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as a 7.0-inch multi-information display. A panoramic sunroof is only offered as an option.

Standard safety features of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk include six airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill-start assist, roll-over mitigation, electronic parking brake and reverse parking sensors and camera.
