Expected to be launched in 2016.
With a well-established brand like Land Rover, JLR won't really want to have an SUV that doesn't carry that iconic name. So what happens to the Jaguar C-X17 based crossover that's being tested at the moment and is slated for a 2016 launch, you may ask. Well, Jaguar's plans of bringing out the SUV are concrete, but all that's going to happen without an 'SUV' moniker.
JLR's chief Ralf Speth, in an interview with Autocar, has said that the upcoming Jaguar C-X17 based production vehicle will not be an SUV. It will be "road-oriented", different from Land Rover's offerings but not a sports car either. All said and done, the crossover will be marketed under a different title and not an SUV.
To be powered by Jaguar's new Ingenium range of four cylinder engines (both petrol and diesel), the vehicle is based on the iQ platform that underpins the XE.
