To be launched in India late next year or early 2017.
The all-new Toyota Fortuner is being presented at the 2015 Thailand Motor Expo. The SUV world premiered in mid-July, and was launched at a starting price of THB 1,199,000 (INR 22.25 lakhs).
In Thailand, where the SUV is produced, it is offered with three powertrain options, including the 2.8-litre GD diesel engine that produces 177 PS at 3,400 rpm and 420/450 Nm at 1,600-2,400 rpm, the 2.4-litre GD diesel engine that churns out 150 PS at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,600-2,000 rpm, and the 2.7-litre petrol engine that generates 166 PS at 5,200 rpm and 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.
A TKM official told IAB last week that it would take at least a year to bring the new Fortuner to Indian market. It will be assembled in TKM's facility in Bidadi, Karnataka, at a reported rate of 2,500 units per month. Its GD diesel engine will be produced at a new engine plant in Jigani, Karnataka, a report said in May.
