The Honda Mobilio became the second best selling car in Indonesia last month, overtaking its rival, the Suzuki Ertiga. Since its launch in Indonesia in January this year, P.T. Honda Prospect Motor have delivered 18,341 units of the MPV.
In its launch month in January, the Mobilio was the 18th best selling car in Indonesia, while February saw the MPV jump to the third spot with sales of 6,241 units. Last month, Honda sold 10,592 units of the Mobilio, hence clinching the title of the second best selling car. The first best seller, the Toyota Avanza, is an MPV rivaling the Mobilio. March 2014 saw Suzuki sell 3,475 units of the Ertiga.
According to Honda, the Mobilio now has a market share of 18 percent in the small MPV segment. The company also said that it has received a total of 30,000 bookings for the Mobilio till date.
Meanwhile in India, Honda Cars India is gearing up to the launch the Mobilio. Honda announced on its Indian website that the Mobilio will launch in a few months time, most probably in the July-September period.
Apart from a 1.5-liter petrol engine, the Mobilio in India will get a 1.5-liter diesel engine matched to a manual gearbox. The petrol would be offered with manual and automatic transmissions.
