Will get power from 1.2L petrol, 1.5L diesel engines.
Honda India continues to reveal the upcoming Honda Jazz slowly, with the latest installment revealing the car's grille. The premium hatchback is expected to be launched in the June-July period this year.
The grille seems to be one of the changes that the company has made for the Indian market, compared to the international versions.
We'd already seen the Jazz at several prominent auto shows across the world, including the Auto Expo 2014. However, India will be the first market where the car will get a diesel engine. The hatchback will be powered by the 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine that also powers the Honda Amaze and the Honda City. The engine produces the same 100 PS and 200 Nm in the sedans. The 1.2-liter i-VTEC which served on the phased out Jazz is expected to service the new generation, and a CVT option was confirmed in the previous teaser.
The Jazz will be manufactured at Honda's facility in Tapukara in Rajasthan, where production has commenced for African exports. While the Jazz's previous innings in India came to an abrupt close due to high prices and low levels of localisation, the new Jazz will be severely localised for the Indian market, continuing with Honda's spree of localisation of its models, for competitive price vis-a-vis the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Elite i20.
The Jazz is likely to be the only all-new mass-market launch for Honda India this year. The company has also evinced interest in introducing a sporty Jazz RS variant.
