The Honda City has been launched in Malaysia in two variants – Grade S and Grade E. The Grade E is the fully loaded variant and includes key features such as:
- Redesigned chrome grille
- Modified front and rear bumpers
- Revised tail lights
- A new fabric seat design
- A new ‘ECO’ indicator
It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that generates 120 HP at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,800 rpm. The five-speed automatic gearbox is optional for both variants.
It is available in 4 colors - Sparkling Brown Metallic joining Alabaster Silver Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Taffeta White.
The base variant will set you back by RM 85,980 (15.37 lakhs). For to top spec Grade E variant, one has to cough up RM 90,980 (16.26 lakhs). For the extra dough, you gets 16" alloys, front fog lights, power-retractable side mirrors with turn signals, chrome exhaust tips, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and paddle shifters, a rear armrest with cup holders, a rear-seat under tray, two extra speakers, and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA).
Further options include the RM 2,950 Modulo body kit and the RM 3,660 Honda Connex SVR (stolen vehicle recovery) system.
Something really interesting about the launch is that Honda is offering a five-year unlimited mileage warranty coupled with six times of free labor service up till 100,000 km.
Considering the rising petrol prices have hit Honda sales in India, we think that a similar warranty should be offered by Honda India to add another major USP to the City. This would make the City an unbeatable petrol sedan in its segment.
