2012 Honda City front fasciaDo you think manufacturers are asking more money for their cars in India than elsewhere? Well think again!

After launching the City in Brazil, Honda has now introduced the 2013 version of its compact sedan in Chile with a monumental price tag of $42000 to $ 50400 (Rs. 11.5 lakhs - Rs 13.8 lakhs).

The Chilean Honda City will be imported as CBU from Thailand. The 2013 City is powered by the same 1.5 litre, i-VTEC petrol motor but develops 120 Bhp which is 4 Bhp up from the current model. Chile gets three manual and one automatic variant.

The interior is finished in black unlike the dual tone beige color scheme we have in India. The dashboard seems to have improved in quality.

The standard features in the Chilean model include:

  • Disc brakes on all wheels
  • ABS with EBD
  • Dual airbags
  • Trip computer and ECO driving mode
  • Glasses with UV filters
  • 16” alloy wheels
  • Audio player with ipod and USB connectivity

The top of the line EX variant gets leather wrapped steering wheel with buttons for audio and cruise control, height adjustment for driver seat, rear center armrest, chrome door handles and fog lamps.

Honda City is a very good car, but don’t you think the Chileans are asked to part with too much of money to own one?
