Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will launch an all-new 160 cc bike between July and September this year. The announcement was made at a business meeting in Tokyo yesterday and the confirmation came from the company via a press release.
HMSI will also launch a commuter bike between July and September which will be an addition to the Dream series, which currently hosts the Dream Yuga and Dream Neo. This new model is likely to sit above Dream Yuga, thereby competing with the likes of the TVS Star City+ and the Hero Passion Pro.
The 160 cc bike, on the other hand, is expected to be a competitor for the likes of the TVS Apache RTR.
Apart from the new launches, which will make it 3 new launches in this fiscal, along with the Honda Activa 125, HMSI will massively increase its foothold by adding 1,000 new touch points before the end of this fiscal year. A phenomenal 3 touch points per day will be added in order to close to gap with the market leader and erstwhile partner Hero Motocorp. This will eventually take HMSI's touch points from 1,950 in 2012-13 to 3,800 in 2014-15.
Apart from this, HMSI is also targeting sales of 45 lakh units for this fiscal, up from 37.22 lakh units it had sold in the previous fiscal year.
