Giant Bicycles, a Taiwanese brand, has launched the Giant Propel Advanced SL 0, the world's fastest bicycle (certified by VeloLab), in India at a whopping INR 10.59 lakhs!
The brand has also announced its entry into India through its exclusive distributor Starkenn Sports Pvt. Ltd. The Giant bicycles will be available through Giant Starkenn Cycling World located at Indira Nagar, Bangalore. The facility is spread over 3,200 sq feet and includes a bike simulator, bike spa, bike fit, bike library, bike café and a display of Giant's bicycle range.
The Propel Advanced SL 0 is used by Giant Shimano Tour de France team and is the steed of champion biker Mr. Marcel Kittel who has won three of the eight races in the championship. The bike features a lightweight composite frame which was designed with the help of computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel for high aerodynamic efficiency.
According to Starkenn, the Indian bicycle industry is approximately valued at INR 2,000 crore with an annual sales volume of 15.5 million units. The premium bicycle segment contributes only to 5% of the market but with rising awareness of health and increasing number of people with high disposable income, the segment is growing four times the rate of the industry.
Starkenn Sports offers a variety of premium bicycles from Giant, ranging from INR 18,500 all the way upto INR 10.59 lakhs. The bike range, which features advanced technologies like light weight aluxx and carbon frames and frame geometries, span categories like off-road, X-road, folding bikes, city bikes and on-road for men, women and children.
