After teasing the S-Cross crossover in a video, Suzuki today have unveiled the crossover at the Geneva Motor Show and yes they named it the SX4. Indian Autos Blog was at the Suzuki press conference and here is what you need to know.
The year 2013 will see Suzuki's overall sales cross 50 million units, which is quite a landmark for the small car specialist. The next generation Suzuki SX4 will be built in the firm's Hungarian factory.
The SX4 is a C Segment crossover (graduated a segment compared to the older car) and is based on the concept car S-Cross which was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012. Suzuki says that the SX4 will be a very versatile, sporting 'one of the largest luggage areas in the crossover segment'.
Suzuki says there are more such crossovers in the pipeline and the idea is to think 'bigger'.
Features of the next generation Suzuki SX4
- M16a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel motor
- Lowest CO2 emission at 110 g/km
- Boot space of 430 litres
- World's first double sunroof
- New All Grip new mode 4WD system
The next generation Suzuki SX4 will be in the showrooms world wide starting from Autumn 2013 (late 2013). As far as India is concerned, the current car is heading for a facelift implying that the new car is still sometime away. Moreover, India has to wait till the sedan version of the car is ready.
