Expected to be followed by Abarth Punto Evo and Abarth Avventura as well.
Fiat India will finally introduce its performance Abarth brand in the country, early next month. The brand will launch the Abarth 595 Competizione on August 4, 2015, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to IndianAutosBlog.
Showcased in India in December 2014, the Fiat 500-based Abarth 595 packs a 1.4-liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine capable of delivering 160 PS and 210 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox driving the front wheels.
Abarth Scorpion badges, HID headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli PZero tyres, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, a Bluetooth-enabled music system and Abarth branding on the seats will be some of the features seen on the 595.
The Abarth 595 will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built up Unit), though forthcoming models from the performance brand would be assembled in the country. Fiat also plans on launching an Abarth Punto Evo and an Abarth Avventura, which will be made at the Ranjangaon plant. Both, the Abarth Avventura and the Abarth Punto Evo are expected with a 1.4-liter T-Jet engine capable of 135 hp and paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
