The Datsun redi-GO made its world premiere yesterday in Delhi. Although the company revealed the car inside out, they haven't released any technical details or expected pricing options for the 'urban crossover'. Here are four things we don't know about the Datsun redi-GO.
Datsun has confirmed that the redi-GO is powered by a 0.8-liter three cylinder petrol engine, although they haven't revealed the power output. The redi-GO is claimed to offer good response from the engine, but exact power outputs will be revealed closer to its launch.
Datsun were also mum about the number of variants that the redi-GO will be available in. It's unclear if redi-GO will follow the Kwid's path and offer three main grades.
At the press conference, Datsun were vehemently claiming that the redi-GO will offer the best-in-class fuel mileage, although we're unsure if it will beat the Tata Nano Twist's 25.35 km/l. If so, the redi-GO will then be crowned India’s most fuel efficient petrol-powered car.
Given that the Datsun is positioned as a low-cost brand in the Renault Nissan Alliance, the redi-GO is expected to be priced even lower than the Renault Kwid. To what extent is anybody's guess, but if it's priced below the Renault's Kwid's launch price of INR 2.56 Lakh (ex-showroom), it's bound to raise some much needed attention towards the fledgling brand.
